Masterclasses and Workshops
Autumn 2025

Marsyas Trio workshop for composers
Thursday 16th October, 3pm-5pm
Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall
An introduction to the Marsyas Trio and composing for flute, cello and piano, with information about how the ensemble works and their typical repertoire. Following this first session, composers will have the opportunity to write a new piece for the trio, sketches of which will be workshopped in February 2026, and then premiered in a concert in May 2026.
Masterclasses: What's Involved?
The general format is: the student performs their piece and then the masterclass lead provides feedback and works on specific areas of the performance with the student - this might be in relation to technique, specific musical ideas, interpretation, performance skills etc.
Taking part
Masterclasses are a fantastic opportunity to receive coaching and feedback from a professional musician who hasn’t heard you perform before.

Observing
All students are welcome (and encouraged) to observe masterclasses. There is always lots to take away from observing a masterclass, even it isn't not focussed on your particular instrument.
No need to book - just turn up to the class you are observing and enter - all masterclasses are free to attend!
