(1) Wheelchair & limited mobility access
- There is step free access to get to the concert hall.
- The front doors have a panel at sitting height to automatically open.
- There are several wooden double doors on the route to the hall which can be difficult to manouevre, staff will be on hand to help, and we will prop doors open where we can safely do so.
- There is a lift between all floors of the building.
- The accessible toilet is on the same level as the concert hall and is located next to the other bathrooms on that level (immediate right of the stairs/lift).
- The bar is at a fixed raised height making viewing bar products difficult for wheelchair users. We will provide a bar menu for your perusal.
- Merchandise (if applicable) will be displayed in Clothworkers Bar on low-level tables.
(2) Wheelchair space in the concert hall
- You don't need to let us know in advance if you are coming with a wheelchair, but if you wish to do so, please feel free to email us at [email protected] and we can reserve space on the flat.
- There is space on the bottom level of the tiered seating for wheelchairs. You are also very welcome to transfer to a seat and have your wheelchair close by.
- Companion ticket - If you are attending a paid event and would like to bring a companion or carer, please get in touch so we can arrange a free ticket for them.
(3) Disabled parking
- On-campus parking is only available to the public in the evenings and on weekends. If you have a disability and are driving to a lunchtime concert, please email us in advance and we can book parking on-site for you - [email protected]
- We unfortunately can't reserve specific spaces, but there is blue badge parking immediately outside the building and on Cavendish Road. Further spaces can be found in the university's orange zone multistorey carpark.
- Full parking information can be found here.
(4) Toilets
- There are men's, women's and a gender neutral/accessible toilet on the same level as the concert hall.
- There is an additional gender neutral bathroom on floor two.
- There are baby changing facilities available in the accessible toilet.
(5) Hearing loop
We unfortunately don't have a hearing loop in our concert hall.
(6) Closed captions / BSL
- We do not have live closed captioning or a BSL interpreter during concerts.
- Opera performances will usually have surtitles on screen at the side of the stage.
- Closed captions can be turned on, on our Youtube videos following the livestreams.
(7) Guide and assistance dogs
We warmly welcome guide dogs and assistance dogs.
(8) Sensory information
- We don't have a specific room for quiet reflection or decompression in the building, but we can absolutely allocate one for you if needed, please just speak to staff when you arrive or email us in advance.
- During the concert, the lights above the audience will be dimmed so the performers are spotlighted. All other spaces have overhead lighting which remains on during concerts.
- You are welcome to bring any stim/fiddle items you need to be able to enjoy the concert comfortably. We would ask that you try to only bring items that don't give off light or noise.
(9) Programmes
- We print our programmes in pt 12. Please let us know in advance if you'd like a large print programme and we can definitely arrange this for you.
- Information is displayed on digital signage within the building and is in large print with high contrast colours.
(10) Families
All our events are family friendly unless stated otherwise.
If you have further questions or any additional access requirements, please email us at [email protected]
