After meeting in 2017 through a contemporary song project during their Erasmus studies in the Netherlands, Kitty Bazalgette and Jaime Espinosa have continued their musical collaboration in England, Spain and the Netherlands. Their interest in the vast and diverse song repertoire has led them to deeper explorations of the repertoire from their own countries, England and Spain respectively. In this concert, they will perform Spanish and Latin American song. Despite being standard repertoire in Latin America, and the basis of many popular contemporary styles, it is rarely heard in Europe. Spanish and Latin music is something that has inspired and continues to inspire Kitty and Jaime's approach to classical music performance, taking advantage of its profound expression, the intimacy that it creates with the listener and the freedom that it demands. They would like to bring this unique and often overlooked repertoire to the audiences of Leeds, bringing with them a colourful and rhythmical afternoon of Spanish and Latin American hidden treasures.

Kitty Bazalgette
Kitty began singing at a young age, but upon entering the National Youth Choir aged 16, she began to focus on finding a professional pathway as a musician. Between 2015 and 2019, Kitty studied at the University of Leeds, graduating with first class honours. In 2022 Kitty graduated from the master programme at the Prince Claus Conservatoire, Groningen, NL working with Hanneke de Wit and Paul Triepels. She has continued to work there since graduating as a mentor and teaching her own subject called Authentic Artistry about artistic development and stage awareness. Kitty is active on the choral scene within the Netherlands both as an ensemble singer and as a soloist. From September 2023 she will begin an MSc at the Royal College of Music, London.
Jaime Espinosa Pedrosa
Jaime started playing the piano at a young age, on the piano that was in his house since before he was born. He went to the junior conservatories of Antequera and Málaga until beginning an undergraduate programme in the same city. There he studied classical piano with Juan Ignacio Fernández Morales and a minor in modern music and improvisation with Juan Ramón Veredas. After finishing the bachelor, he continued studying a master program in Artez, Zwolle, NL. There he focused on solo piano repertoire with Frank van der Laar alongside an active role in chamber music ensembles and as a repetiteur. After graduating he stayed in the conservatory to work as an assistant repetiteur for the violin department of Sarah Kapustin during the academic year of 2021-22. Currently he works as a repetiteur in the School of Music in Melilla (Spain), alongside the Orchestra and Choir of the same city.
