Debussy’s ‘Children’s Corner Suite, and Chopin’s Fantasie-Impromptu, op 66, the Berceuse, op 57, and the Ballade, no 1, op 23 are all masterpieces of music history, representative of their composer’s works and being also very poetic. Chopin, the Polish musician was one of the more important of romantic composers and an incredible soloist. He wrote music almost exclusively for the piano. Debussy, the French musician, was totally involved in the cultural and artistic life of his time. A friend of poets, painters and writers, he wrote opera, chamber and symphonic music, although the piano was the master medium for him. In his artistic vision, Debussy was influenced by both symbolism and impressionism.
