Feedback Everywhere All The Time
A concert and installation of (mostly) gentle sonic feedback that explores the lifelike qualities of sound trying to find a way to happen under its own power across networks of microphones and amplifiers. We make everything feed-back! Featuring halldorophone (feedback cello), guitars, microphones, and maybe some Steve Reich. Participants include Scott McLaughlin, Callie O’Brien, Billy Harrison, Anthony Stillabower, and James Creed.
The halldorophone is a cello-like electronic instrument created by artist and designer Halldór Úlfarsson. The halldorophone is designed specifically to feedback the strings, making use of the phenomena of positive feedback to incite the strings to drone.
Dr Scott McLaughlin is an Associate Professor in Composition and Music Technology, specialising in practice research, composition, materiality, agency, indeterminacy, Experimental Music, Spectral Music, microtonality, chaos theory, ambiguity, emergent and self-organising structures.

INSTALLATION
The installation performance 5–7pm will include two performances of Steve Reich’s Pendulum Music at 5pm and 6.30pm. Between these there will be an installation exploring how the movement of people influences a network of continuous feedback in the foyer space.
