Date

Friday 15 November 2013, 1.05pm - 1.55pm

Michael Durrant (guitar)

In this exciting debut concert at the University of Leeds, the highly regarded young English classical guitarist Michael Durrant will explore the richness of the instruments’ diverse repertoire. Performing music from a broad choice of genres and countries, audiences will be treated to a selection of the shimmering lute music of John Dowland as well as the lyrical beauty of Agustin Barrios Mangore’s music for the guitar. Also, Durrant will perform one of the only examples of serialist composition to be found within the contemporary repertoire composed by the English composer Reginald Smith Brindle. No classical guitar concert would be complete without some Spanish music, and here audiences will be delighted with the poetry of Joaquin Rodrigo’s depiction of the Spanish countryside. Any lover of the guitar will marvel at the rich variety of music to be heard, not to be missed!
