Every song tells a story. Jazz vocalist and Leeds University vocal tutor, Tessa Smith, explores the narrative power of song alongside her dynamic trio. From timeless standards to powerful contemporary songs, each piece invites the audience to connect with stories of emotion, resilience, and optimism. The performance places a special focus on songs that amplify the voices and perspectives of women - tales of strength, independence, and self-discovery - delivered with honesty, depth, and authenticity. This performance follows ‘Unfolding the Process’: an open rehearsal which invites audience members behind the scenes to see how the creative rehearsal develops into performance. The interactive session will see Tessa bring songs she has never performed with the trio and show the journey from idea to reality. Questions will be welcomed throughout the open rehearsal.
