Event 11: Trio SOL performs Brahms and Berkeley.

Date
Date
Friday 1 November 2013, 1.05pm - 1.55pm

David Horwich (horn) Christiane Eidsten Dahl (violin) Chad Vindin (piano)

Having performed the programme internationally, including a recent visit to the Norwegian Opera House in Oslo, Trio SOL is delighted to be performing at the University of Leeds Concert Series. These two contrasting works for horn trio offer a rich variety of colours from this unusual combination of instruments. Berkeley's trio from 1954 is a quirky yet lyrical work with splashes of jazz that moves effortlessly through various styles. Brahms' Trio is an undoubted masterpiece; commemorating his mother's death in 1865, it is a work of light and shade, from the sadness and reflection of the Adagio to the joyous finale; the trio is a tour de force.
