Hannah Elkins is a final year BMus Music student specialising in classical singing. She spent her third year at ArtEZ hogeschool voor de kunsten in the Netherlands, where she had voice lessons with Marjan Kuiper and participated in several masterclasses with highly regarded singers such as Magreet Honig and Anne Klare. Due to her vast love of singing regardless of style or genre, Hannah has participated in multiple societies varying from Stage Musicals Society in which she played Adelaide in Guys and Dolls to vocal coaching several of shows and this year being involved in the A cappella society in which she has been involved in writing some of the arrangements herself.

This programme includes some of Hannah’s favourite pieces to sing. Britten’s song cycle ‘Cabaret Songs’ taking her interest due to its jocular writing influenced by the poet W.H. Auden. Her passion for the german language lead to her choice of Brahms, his music often being renowned for its expressiveness and melodic vibrancy and finally her interest in Ives which was developed in the Netherlands after participating in a three day workshop on his 114 songs where they explored the breadth of his music as a composer.
