LSTwo

The School of Music’s crack new music ensemble LSTwo directed by Mic Spencer performs a challenging and exciting programme spanning the last 50 years. Harrison Birtwistle’s Tragoedia, dedicated to Michael Tippett, showcases the harp and involves the wind players using claves. Improvisation I by Emmanuel Nunes who died in 2012, goes further with all the instrumentalists using exotic percussion instruments in a coruscating tour-de-force. James Dillon’s Zone (…de azul), with its trilling, shimmering textures receives a rare performance and the programme is completed with music by postgraduate composers from the School. This concert is dedicated to the memory of Emmanuel Nunes.
